Dear people,
I would like to offer an idea.

I and a view other Tibet supporters have discussions in a few usenet groups, whit
Chinese people about Tibet, Falun Gong, Human rights, Chinese dissidents an
other political matters. Normally I post articles from websites and see if there are
reactions coming. There are not so many Tibet supporters there, thats the reason
for this advertisement.

Is it an idea for Tibet symphatisers to join the discussions?
The discussions can go pretty rough, and often you get tough reactions, but I think its worth trying.
Its not easy, the most responses seem to come from Chinese Nationalists, very in favour of the CCP
line, you have to love the challenge of the enormous gap of ideas about Tibet ands its modern history,
but there are other Chinese people too.
At least you make something knowable, as long as they are rational and constructive of course!
My policy is kindness just like The Dalai Lama.

The usenet groups are:
hk.politics, soc.culture.china, soc.culture.hongkong, talk.politics.china,
talk.politics.tibet
It can be handy to use a newsreader (mozilla thunderbird p.e.) for that or use the google groups website.

I have heard from a Taiwanese usenetposter that these groups where available in mainland China,
but one month ago China closed these usenet groups. But still I see posts from coming Hong Kong.

With Kind Regards,

Peter

Thanks, these are good comments I got here, I see some improvement on Usenet, even friendly talks now and then and I'm not there to win a war, but to make friends without losing my identity as a Buddhist and sympathizer for the Tibetan cause. Maybe there are some people who can join me there. For some reason I keep believing in these usenet discussions, even if I would talk with a so called 50 cent party member, I should not make a difference, we belong all to the same human race with just one mind.

Hello ! Peter,I do not know how to start a comment without first thanking good friends of Tibet---like yourself.
So, thank you.Thank you very much indeed. To Mr. Yu, I think my fellow Tibetan Ligdol la has actually hit the nail on the head. But I have an advice for you Mr.Yu .Why don't you just for a day come out of cave of your vision--quit uttering ccp party lines , and look back into your own intelligence (kind of self examination of your own knowledge and intelligence) and see if you truly know and believe what you have said of and about Tibet is correct. As far as I know you don't sign treaty between two brothers to sort out an issue. But you definitely sign treaties between two or more Independent Nations to settle any issue acknowledging mutual respect for each other etc.If you know during the cultural revolution; your party leaders did every thing they could to wipe out any signs of Tibet's Independence. But what your party leaders failed to understand was that the rest of the world is neither blind nor ignorant about Tibet. They are little weak. Therefore, here we are .The Tibetans!.We are and we will continue to give the energy dose of the truth about Tibet to the world and to you--- how and why Tibet never was a part of China, never is, and never will be.By the way my absolute compassion and sympathy for democracy lovers of China even though we might still disagree on the issue of Tibet.Lets talk. Let's understand the issue correctly.Let us not hate each other. My leader tells me not to hate you but learn to work with you.So even though I have a lot of anger in me with what I have gone through I am trying hard to understand Chinese people.Because I have met good and kind ones too.So you see.......

Anything to help the Tibetans is worthwhile, however I don't want to get stuck in the same debate about who did what when and how. China is now the world's most powerful country. I just read this on Pravda: China to cooperate with Russia against U.S. dollar, here: http://english.pravda.ru/world/asia/24-03-2009/107287-China_Russia_dollar-0

Americans and Europeans must wake up to this fact and begin to educate and prepare themselves for the future. China will do and say anything to grab power. This is fact. People who have been subjugated by China are completely brainwashed, just like Americans are brainwashed into thinking they are "free" because they own a house or car. Well, things change very quickly in the world when you don't pay attention.

So yes, keep up the dialogue but please don't waste time with people who cannot see the cancer spreading across their own faces. Try, then move on.

Well, Mr.Peter lak, It is really a great things to tell about. Especailly from myside, i appreciate your deep concerned about the struggle. Regarding us and Chinese, both community doesn't have real access to the truth. And the truth lies in Tibet. Lets not talk about history, The Red Chinese Govt. is saying Tibet is a part of china. If it is so! Why Tibetans are not allowed to do what their anceseter were doing in their Land. Why there are more Chinese in Tibet then Tibetan? Why Tibetan's in Tibet go against the communist govt.,when they are rulling? They label our previouse(1959) system as a serf system, but why they have more serfs then earliar as a political prisoners?......Most important Question is Why Tibetan in Tibet is not Happy with their so-called The CCP or Red Chinese Govt. I don't blame the general public of china, coz they don't have an access to the truth or true information. Because their own govt. is fooling them, if not then they are most ignorant people on the earth. But i beleive they are not the one to be blame. So i think, we need a plateform where we can share our views freely then ever, which will definetly clear some of our very important differences or confusion or lies. So, i am very willing to disccussed things with our Chinese brothers and sisters. I beleive this effort is the first step towards the bringing the solution to the cause.

Hey peter, its amazing that you are supporting tibet and bringing lots of discussion about the tibetan issues. Main truth is that Tibet is completely independent country suffering under brutal chinese occupation. Gaining independence from china is tough since Tibet doesn't have any natural resources that benefit other world nations and also the China's economic success and also the nuclear power that china possess. All the outside nations are afraid of the China's reaction. China's control and suppression of Tibetans and some chinese who support democracy and independence is clear from the Chinese government not allowing foreign media in Tibet. Hopefully UN and other world organizations will have some access to what is going on in Tibet and FREE TIBET SOON BEFORE ITS TOO LATE. Thanks for all the Tibetan supporters.

Dear Peter, I think you have a very good idea. I just went through Mr, Yu's article and I found out that everything he said is nothing new but the regular Chinese propaganda. I was born and grew up in Tibet and I wanted answer to a couple of points that Mr Yu made in his mail. The 17 Point Peace Treaty Agreement was signed in 1951 Mr Yu is right. But one thing Mr Yu doesn't seem to have any clue about the 17 Point Treaty is that when two parties sign Treaty Agreement like this clearly shows that there were two Independent Nations. Peace Treaty Agreement is always signed between two or more independent nations. Eventhough Tibetan representative signed the 17 point peace treaty with Chinese force, it clearly shows that Tibet and China were two complete diferent Independent Nations. The another thing, Mr Yu goes on to say that Communist regine redistributed to the serfs in 1959. Here again, Mr Yu doesn't seem to have any clue about what he is talking about. In 1959 China Invaded Tibet in the name peaceful liberation at same time the regime of China confisticated everything, I mean everything that was beganing of so called Cultural Revolution and nobody owned anything until after Evil Moa's death and early1980s then redistribution of the land started but what China did was redistributed more land the Chinese Migrants than to the Tibetans. Even to this day if you to Tibet, you will see more Chinese migrants own land than the Tibetans do and 99.9% of businesses in Tibet are owned by the Chinese migrants because the Chinese regime pours money for those Chinese Mirants to start up new businesses but no benefit for the Tibet whatsoever. Mr Yu, I lived the life in Tibet as a Tibetan.

Hi frens, thank you all for all your supports, the support we really need at this critical time. I bow down to all my country fellows who still try to live in Tibet and survive under this unbelievable chinese and their govt. They know no pity, no compassion, no shame nothing only brutality, shamelessness. We suffer in our own land for 50yrs and never know till when. Hope the chinese younger generations can do something soon with the change in govt..... Please HELP..

Hi Peter,I totally agree with you...I 'm also trying to blog posts on youtube and I find it hard to talk about Tibet with Chinese...I mean most of those bloggers are paid by Government so it's totally bullshit, but still lots of Chinese are too deaf and blind about their situation... The improvement of human rights in China will be realized by the Chinese people themselves.
But help from the int'l community is definitely effective and very important.
So let's keep it up!!

Thanks for your reaction.
I believe that even nasty message's, can be appreciated, if I take the poison out, it can be possible to say something that fits and sometimes i feel my own anger coming up.
I do know Woesers blog, but cannot read Chinese. Sometimes i read Chinese blog by using the Bable Fish translation. Now and then i read translated articles from Woeser, is she still detained?
